What this means for people

A higher figure means each person's share of household income buys more than it did, after tax and rising prices.

The measure is in 2024 prices, so a higher figure means people can buy more than in that year, not that the cash amount was higher at the time.

How to read this

Per person, for the quarter

Household disposable income is divided by the population. The amount is for the quarter, not a weekly wage.

After tax, benefits and inflation

What is left after taxes and benefits is then adjusted for inflation and shown in 2024 prices.

Households, not only employees

Self-employed income, benefits and pensions are included, not only pay from an employer. It is an average per person, so it is not what a typical household receives.
